04-17-11 Fairmont, San Francisco, CA

Sunday, April 17 found me in San Francisco for part 2 of the Alcatraz themed to the event..
Drawing caricatures with me Sunday were caricaturist/illustrator Zach Trenholm and Jon Casey.

Again I drew my caricatures utilizing the theme for effect.
Here are some examples of my caricature portraits for the evening.

Just like on Thursday a few times during the event Jon and myself ended up drawing the same guests simultaneously.
Here's a pair of portraits!

04-16-11 - 4 Year Old Birthday Party, Oakley, CA - East Bay

It felt good to have a gig close to home.

I forgot my normal camera so I only took one shot with my cell phone.

Here's a caricature portrait of a family that was in attendance.

Tomorrow it's back to San Francisco for another trip to "Alcatraz".

Big Al Caricature can draw at events large or small.
Today's event was a backyard party, tomorrow's a huge soirée at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.

04-14-11 Fairmont, San Francisco, CA

Thursday, April 14 found me once again in San Francisco.

A couple of times during the event Shannon and myself ended up drawing the same guests simultaneously.

04-09-11 T2 at SFO, San Francisco, CA

Saturday found Big Al drawing at another T2 event. This time it was a Community Open House.

I arrived early and set up my station. It seemed like minutes after I started the line was around 20 people deep.

I was well prepared with fresh chisel tip Sharpies and over 100 sheets of paper for my 3 hour stint.

The people who waited in my line were the best! I've drawn at many events over the years and there is almost always at least one over bearing or upset person in a crowd of that size, but I didn't see or hear anyone complain at all on Saturday.

I was listed on the website and printed material as: Quick Caricature Portraits by Big Al Lopez

I took a sampling of pics noting what number paper I was on so you could see the standard I set for my Quick Caricature Portraits.

04-04-11 iPad sketch, Walnut Creek, CA - East Bay

Last night I was playing around with an iPad 2 at an Apple store.

Here's what I drew.

To be or not to be ... digital ... that is the question?!?

The only drawing software loaded for demos in the iPad2 is Zen Brush which is solely black & greys.

I'd like to try Sketchbook Pro!

... hmmmm.

04-02-11 1st Prom of the year, San Francisco, SF Bay

Saturday night's all right for drawing.

This past Saturday evening found Big Al drawing caricatures at his first Prom of the year.
Shannon Bird of thecartoonroom.com was also on hand to draw caricature portraits of couples.
It was 4 hours of non-stop marker madness.

Here are some of the drawings I produced at my first Prom night of 2011.

There's sure to be more junior proms and senior balls coming up in April and May.

Always a fun season!
